The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) is a prestigious international community of Mathematicians and Engineers. Every two years, the SIAM Group on Control Theory Prize is awarded to a junior researcher for outstanding contributions to mathematical control or systems theory.

In 2015, the UTFSM faculty Eduardo Cerpa, AM2V researcher, has been selected to receive this prize for his contributions to the control and stabilization of partial differential equations. Eduardo is the 8th recipient of this prize established in 1997. Previously, 6 researchers from US institutions and one from Belgium have received this award.

As part of this recognition, Eduardo will give a plenary lecture at next SIAM Conference on Control to be held in Paris next July.
