Postdoctoral research position

A two-years full-time postdoctoral research position, renewable for one more year, is available at the Group Analysis and Mathematical Modeling Valparaíso in the Department of Mathematics at Federico Santa María University, Valparaíso, Chile.

The Group is looking for a candidate holding a doctoral degree in applied mathematics, specialized in one of the following (or related) areas:

  • Control of Partial differential equations and Inverse problems;
  • Nonlinear analysis of Partial differential equations;
  • Numerical analysis for Partial differential equations;
  • Optimization and variational analysis;
  • Spatial Statistics

The candidate’s research record should include publications in international journals. A knowledge of Spanish is not required, but recommended. The candidate is expected to contribute with the research group with innovative ideas, apply for research projects and publish in high-quality journals. We offer a creative and social work environment, good opportunities for scientific development, no teaching load and competitive gross salary (US$ 2.600 app. per month before taxes). This position is available from September, 2012, but a later start date can be arranged.
